Frayed Ropes

Up the coast from the pier at Lake Worth Beach, Florida, just past the crowds of couples and families, timeshares and rentals, the shore is empty and the sounds of the sea roar over the sand to a set of dilapidated steps leading to a seemingly empty luxury condo building. The wooden steps, weather worn and buried under sand, are guarded by frayed ropes which long ago left the mission of safety.

I spent the weekend in the sun of South Florida. I packed just about as much awesome into my 64-hour vacation as one possibly can, spending Saturday on Juno Beach and Sunday on Lake Worth Beach and eating the most delicious food created by nature and perfected by man. It will go down in history as the best solo vacation of 2014 (not to be compared with the vacations with my kids).
