Morning Sunshine

Friday Fictioneers is a weekly blog link-up led by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields at Addicted to PurpleThe Challenge – write a one hundred word (plus or minus) story with a beginning, middle, and end inspired by the picture. The Key – make every word count.

The picture is worth a thousand words. These are another one hundred.

I didn’t write a story yesterday. I hit a brick wall at 6:00 P.M. “I can’t brain,” I said, and left the office. I didn’t write a story today either. I did write — nine Fair Housing marketing plans.

I clocked seventy hours last week, and I’ll do that again this week. I’ll wish it was only seventy next week, and the week after I’ll remember how to function on four hours of sleep.

I do grant-like writing and the applications are due in three weeks. But every day I go outside in the sunshine and take a moment for myself.

  1. I’ve not noticed the warning before that all comments must be related to the post. i’m a little nervous because I often tell stories that the post reminds me of and they are not often related to the post so i think I’ll say nothing – it’ safer.

  2. Your story makes me very tired – in a good way. Once I had to write a report on ceramics shards found at Fort Vancouver i Vancouver, WA. I was in no way a report writer so worked all day then wrote (poorly) all night. My husband took me to see Red Rodney (a famous jazz musician) in a small pub and I FELL ASLEEP sitting at the front table. Long story short, I can relate. Well done.

    • I can relate. Two years ago I went to a concert after one of these months of long hours and slept on the lawn from the opening act till the crowd was gone. Best sleep I’d had in ages. 🙂

    • Thank you Amy! It’s an insane number of hours, but it gave me what I needed to take a bit of a break this weekend. I won’t sleep again until mid-June. But I love what I do, and I feel passionate about the industry, so it’s all good.
