View down the atrium to the Pulse Bar from the 33rd floor of the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, 7 April 2014
The Atlanta Marriott Marquis hotel is a pear-shaped building with a bulging base and a tapered top. It rises 52 stories into the skyline, and inside the atrium extends the entire interior height of the building (470 feet). Only the Burj Al Arab in Dubai has a more expansive atrium (590 feet). The hotel has 1,663 rooms, 94 of which are suites, and is one of 256 completed high rises in the city of Atlanta, and one of only 36 with heights over 400 feet.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Room. The object: “In this week’s photo challenge, share your take on the idea of room — it could be an actual room in your house, a favorite gallery in your local museum, a cubicle at work. You could also take this challenge in a more abstract direction, and show us where you feel like you have room — or lack it.”

Thank you! I could tell people were worried about how I was hanging over the ledge to get the picture, but it was a picture I couldn’t leave without getting.
